The Navitronics cards are awesome!  You bet all the markers, buoys, fish attractors, etc.  Way more usefulness that the built-in map the comes with the 595.  Keep an eye on the specials with West or BassPro - also check out eBay - lots of SD cards there:

Navionics makes fishing cards as well. (Fishing Chips) They show alot more bottom detail and bathy lines than the Navionics regular navigation chart cards.

Any outboard boat can use a transom mounted transducer.  With a low powered fishfinder, there is no gain with a thru hull transducer.

On a small boat with a relativley thin hull, you might try a glue in transducer.  You will loose surface water temp and speed thru the water with this type of transducer, but no holes anywhere are required.

Thanks for the input but for those prices I'm hoping a friend of mine will have the one I need I can't see spending 200 bucks on a chip I might have a change of heart once I get the system If I go with the hull mounted transducer will I lose alot of clarity I guess is was I'm wondering and what if I went with transom mounted instead of screwing the cable down couldn't I 5200 it inplace?
