if you look at the picture at the motors in between the motors close to the bottom there is a brass looking thing atached to the hull . and on the in side to the bilge area there are 2 wires that have been cut to this brass looking thing  what is that thing ? and what is it used for? i send a close up of it as soon as i can

And what does it do ?

Most zinc anodes are in contact with the metal they protect. This is to slow the electrolysis that occurs when a boat resides in the salt water and not on a trailer. It appears your vessel did just that. The "sacrificial" anode is made of zinc which has a higher level of conductivity than aluminum. It decays first by giving up its electrons instead of the metal it is attached to, thus reducing the decay on the engines. They need to be replaced regularly in order to reduce metal decay to your motor.

Your bar in between your motors may be some kind of "fancy electrical device" used to minimize this decay but I'm not familier with that type of device (if it exists at all).

My guess is that it is a "bonding" (ground) for the electronics/and or lightning protection made of bronze or brass. The wire size would need to be sufficient to carry the load (of a strike) but who knows what the PO was thinking.
Scratch it with a knife and you'll know if it is brass/bronze and not zinc. It doesn't appear to be zinc in the pic (corrosion/pitting would be present).

Here is a short link detailing use of anodes. http://www.boatus.com/boattech/casey/23.htm

Thanks Capt Bob I had some rednecks try to tell me that it was a fancy water temp sensor. I knew that wasnt the case it was to big. So I can Yank it off ? I will have it on the trailor more than in the water.

One step farther - in photobucket, resize the images to 640x480 (follow the LAST post in this topic) and then you can post IMG Code links to the photobucket pics here and the pics will appear here.
