Wow, you are making great progress. I think you should tape over the original placard until you find someone who can duplicate a copy of the original. I would also like to acquire a new one for my boat as it is pretty much unreadable and mounted behind the cleat on the port quarter instead of on the console like yours. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

I would drill out the pop rivets and then remount it when you are done painting. Maybe look into a custom vinyl sticker that has the same info

Well its raining here today in Georgia so I went and picked up my paint. Im going with awlgrip on the inside (Off White) with the light gray kiwi grip for non skid. I decided on Insignia yacht coatings for the outside because of the color. Bahia Honda Green. From what Ive learned it seems to be pretty close to awlgrip and I love the color. Its the same color as the boat Undertow had done.

Reelclimax, your making great progress. I have a couple of questions. What is "watertite"? and how do you plan on painting it? Spray or roller/brush?

Interlux watertite is a filler that gets very hard and sands pretty easy as long as you dont put it on to thick. I am going to use a sprayer on the boat. Personally, I think that spraying is the way to go. Ive tried rolling and tipping with little success. Flakeysaqua, I had small cracks throughout the boat because it is over thirty years old . I either sanded them out or used a grinder on some of the bigger ones. All the cracks on my boat only went as deep as the gelcoat and most were spider cracks where a screw had been before. So far the watertite has been the way to go. LilRichard turned me on to it and I have been satisfied as he seems pretty knowledgable.

Well Guys over the past couple of weeks I ve been getting parts in. Mew Wheel from Half Price Marine(an ebay company that really has some good deals and has saved me some money) Also got rod holders and cleats from there. Got new controls, they were expensive but worth it. They look and seem to work ten times better than the old one I had. My Kiwi Grip is on the way as well as my Bahia Honda Green Paint from Fiberglass services. Ive already purchased and received my Awlgrip for the interior from a local supplier. It will be off white and the non skid a light grey like LilRichards awesome rebuild.

RC,
Try Barbour Plastics... do a google search. Great prices, as they manufacture the product. Most of the stuff you see at Hamilton marine, etc, comes from Barbour.
