GoneFission, I really like your boat. How much work is it to keep that wood nice looking like yours ? In the summer when I'm not boating my boat sits on trailer under a canopy, in the winter it sits in a shelter. I would really like some wood on my boat, but wouldn't want to maintain that wood every summer

I would not be so cavalier as to speak for Capt. John but I myself discovered this product many years ago at the Miami Boat Show and have used it ever since. I'm on my second bottle, got the first in 96.

Teak Guard is good stuff, but is still an oil, and I've decided to go the varnish route.  It lasts longer and gives a better look.  I use Interlux #96 Schooner Varnish - it has a nice application and good UV protection.  Intially I sanded the wood and put on 3 coats of varnish.  Maintenance-wise, I just hit the wood with some steel wool each spring and put a new coat of varnish on.  Looks better each year!  I think jdupree has done something similar with his 200CCP.  

I also bought a console cover recently and put that over the console when the boat is not in use - better security for what's in the console, as well as good sun and rain protection.

No, I'd have to disagree (respectfully of course Capt.). It's water soluble and claims to contain no oil. It dries to a hard finish (unlike oil) so maybe it's some kind of latex paint. I don't really know but like varnish, it lasts longer when protected from direct sunlight and weather and can be "touched up" also.
It can't match the "look" of varnish (for depth of shine) but still looks good.
I actually prefer the look of oiled teak the best but I'm too lazy  (and have "other" things to do) to oil teak every 15 minutes.

Hell, just replace it with Starboard and your troubles are over. It's just that these old CCPs look really good in their teak trim.

Will have to agree with Gonefission on the Interlux Schooner.  He introduced me to it and as he stated it looks great and is low maintenance.  Here is a picture of one of the stern hatches.  Picture was taken on a cloudy day so you are unable to see the high gloss it does have.

I messed with my teak for a while and got tired of it.

I used 3 coats of Sikkins on it about a year ago.  Then three coats of the clear hi-gloss Sikkins
Still looks good and its easy to put a new coat on.

I used the Sikkens Cetol last year too. I am very impressed with it. Went on well and seems to wear like iron. I am going to do the rest of the teak this season in it.

I got tired of continually my re-working my teak and put one coat of starboard in it's place and I haven't   had one problem with it since!

Hello all,
One more CCP to add.
Mine is a 1985 222 CCP
HID: ASPA0539L385
She's powered by a 1991 Johnson 225 looper ( which is still in the shop)
I bought her from Cape Coral Fl, but the title says the previous owner was in Key Largo.
She has a T-top and coffin box with cushins.

The hull is nice, seems to be solid, but she needs to have some work done. I haven't been able to get her into the water because of the Johnnie problems.
I hope to wet her butt in the next couple of weeks.  So far I owned it for 1 week and my mechanic has had her a month.  I'll get some pictures as soon as I see her again.

Well, I got ticked at my 1991 Johnnie 225 and bought a 2000 200hp johnnie with less then 100 hrs on rebuild. worked a deal with my mechanic to mount the newbie and buy my old motor. Now just got to wait for freight to get it here.

1988 222 CCP
A lot of upgrades since I bought it a couple of three years ago.











Now that it's 25' with the bracket I plan on a new Merc 250XS. With the addition of the bracket she will do 47mph (gps) with the 200EFI, with the 250 I will be able to cruise at 40 with a lot lower GPH and should get a much better hole shot though I'm not complaining now :tongue: Really a 225XS would be more than enough. :pirat: Looking forward to fishing this year for reds and specks. She's getting a new fuel tank this year courtesy of RDS Aluminum in florida. They made the original and at current prices for aluminum they quoted me 695.00 for a new unit.

With damnitbadger's addition, along with Capt. Bob's 'Reef or Madness 3', there now are two 222s with full transom brackets in the line up as well as Doc Reed's 250 with the twin 150 Mercs...a good info resource for anyone thinking along the same lines.

jdupree, nice heads-up on the link to riverratjr's 222.  If you're around riverrat...post up that bad boy!  Any other current or new members, please do the same.  Just add information on year, model/length, Hull ID number, power and any other related or historical information specific to your boat or the model line in general.
