Center Console side view

Center Console back view

Center Console Front View

One of a few soft spots

Console and tank cover removed

Back end of tank

Tank fill and vent hoses

Nice foam job!!(yeah Right)

Whole pic of tank

Please let me know if you see anything I should take care of or maybe should check
First check tank looks fairly decent shape no smell of Gasoline
Will know more once I can see around the tank after Deck is torn up.
Looks as though they tried coating the tank with fiberglass resin, but it is flaking off.

I think most people remove the tank before they start cutting around the gas tank- gas vapors and power tools dont mix. Might be wrong and over cautious on that though...

You should pull out fuel tank if there is a problem it will be on the bottom of the tank. You can pressure test the tank with a few plugs, hose and a low pressure gauge but great care must be taken not to put more than 3psi in tank or it could burst. Spray soap on any suspect areas. Remove any wires that might get cut. It looks like she's still on the lift that could make it more difficult than on the trailer or in garage.

Yeah, I would definitely pull the tank.  Looks pretty dirty in there, even if nothing is wrong with the tank, it would give you peace of mind to know that the tank's clean on the inside and at least leak-proof.  My tank had the original tank mounted fuel guage.  I replaced it with a sending unit... much nicer.

On a different note:  Looks like your 19-6 has the stern mounted livewells.  I'm jealous!  :x     I didn't know if they made them for the 19-6, but I guess so.   If you get a chance, could you possibly post some pics of the livewells?   Also, I like the black bottom paint.  I'm about to repaint the bottom of mine black; it's nice to get an idea of what it would look like.... Definitely better than the green that's on mine now.

Nice Boat.

I am going to pull the tank after reading what everyone is suggesting, Bad part it is about 3/4 full so I have to drain it out, should be fun :>
and I am more thant likely going to change out tank mounted guage with a sending unit.

The bottom paint was on the boat when I bought it and needs to be redone.
I really love this boat, handles great rides pretty good only thing is I wish it had hydraulic steering cuz is hard to steer that old 150 on there.

Well the stern mounted live wells I am really not to keen about, while at rest there really is not alot of water in them and not sure how much they drag the boat down while under way or actually help like a trim tab in a way. This boat gets up on plane really quick with the 150 HP on it. I was thinking of taking them off and trying it out and see what happens but have not fully decided yet.

I will post some more pics tomorrow of the livewells from outside and inside. The well on the starboard side Installed a live well pump to keep water in and keeps bait alive but they get stuck behind the pump and hard to get them out.

Will also have more pics of the demo. I have the floor all tore up and now starting grind down to stringers. They seemto be dry, what a relief. The starboard side at the back was damp because they installed a deck plate and drilled into the Stringer part way and didnt fix it but have left it open for a few days and seems dry . Will check deeper tomorrow.

I am probably going to go with Divinycell for the deck found a local boat place that has it for around $90 for 1/2" but they may only have 5/8" and the guy didnt know the price of it when I Called.

Once again thanks to all for the input so far and please keep it coming.

How are the stringers?  All still attached well, no cracks?

If so, you have a pretty straight forward job to do... should be relatively easy.  Good call on pulling the tank - I certainly would.

I'm looking at buying a 1974 17' that has some soft spots in the floor, it will need to be replaced at some point. Is it setup the same as this 19?

Welcome aboard fabricator  :!:  :!:

If the stringers are still factory, they'll look like this and I think the fuel tanks on that year are under the sole too.

Stringers look extremely well IMO, do not see any signs of cracks or delamination.

Tank is Pulled, Tank has a little pitting in but no leaks, Hopefully get a couple more years out of it, will probably sand down around the pits and apply some JB Weld. Luckily on the 19-6 it really is not a big deal pulling the tank after I am done but the tank should get a couple years more (I Hope)
Stringers are grinded down to the tops of them.
put another layers of glass over bilge area for future painting

Any ideas on what to do at the back starboard side where the trough was? I am not putting the trough back, but, where it was is lower and needs to built up. If anyone has done this or has any ideas would be great.

Will post more pics later this week.

If I may, I would strongly suggest doing the tank now.  Given this economy, you should be able to get one for $400 or less... and it will be well worth doing while the boat is apart.  That tank is the only thing standing between you and "BOOM".

Ok more pictures:
A little messy just got done grinding and sanding.
Picked up the honeycomb material today.

Are these original and is this where the original tank sat on?
should I put 1/2 Peices of PVC pipe here for the tank to sit on?

Yup, looks like those were supports for the tank.  All you need is something to hold the tank in place while the foam kicks (assuming you foam).  When you have them fab a new tank, you can also put tabs on the tank to screw into the bulkheads... that'll give you another way to secure it.

Thanks for the help LilRichard and everyone else I really appreciate this.

Should there be more support for the tank underneath? or with the foam that is enough? Should there be a bottom that goes from support to support? there was a peice of 1/4" plywood they had under the tank when I took it out (of course it was all rotted)

There were aluminum straps screwed to the stringers on the inside are those ok to reuse to hold the tank as long as I use something between the auminum tank and the straps like the clear hose I saw some one else use?

I just foam in the 4 sides correct?
