newbie with a 22.2 FB w/pics.. update 2/16/09
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:32:23 AM »
Good morning gentleman!

Im happy to announce my new addition! I've only been a member for just a few weeks, but I have been all up and down this site for the last few months reading everything and anything about the different projects and discussions. This site is VERY helpful, Thank You!!

She's a 1970 22.2 flatback w/no power. I brought her home late last night after a super long road trip to the state of Texas, with a over night stop in Foley, Al. A gentleman had it for sell on Craigslist for cheap, and so with the gas price being cheap for now.. I figured hell why not a road trip.

-Dave

This is gonna be the fun part right here, and Im up for the challenge!!

The floor is DEF shot to hell!!

i thought it was only bad luck if you change the boat after you already named it. If you purchased a boat that already has a name, I think its OK to change it.

Welcome aboard David B. :!:  :!:
Lots of possibilities lie on that trailer - a diamond in the rough waiting. Looks like someone added a keel to the boat?

Man - that looks familiar!

I think that keel is the factory one plus some new glass.

I spy a broken stringer:

No big deal, but it will need to be fixed.  If a few of them are broken, you may wish to start fresh.

Thanks for the welcome guys!!

LilRichard, yes.. the keel towards the bow is seriously shot to hell! The transom and the strings are gonna be my first priority. Pretty much just gut the whole thing and start fresh. I've read through your post several times and I'm confident that I can handle the task. Wish me luck!! lol

Ok, It's been a few good weeks but I finally got around to start on her!

There was about 2" of water within the stringers!!

There must have been at LEAST 350-400lbs. of dead weight combined!!!!!!

Yup. looks familiar.

Make sure you take out any delaminated glass, I ran into a good bit during my rebuild.  Otherwise, looks like a good start.

Yea, I ran out of daylight late Sunday to finish up the bow area. So last night I pickup some work lights to hang from inside the cover.
