Capt Bob - I had to go with the hat a few years ago - cuz my ears had been sunburned so many times the Dr said they had become sensitized, and further exposure would lead to melanoma or worse. So now I wear the Aussie hat - it really works at keeping sun off the ears, forehead, and neck, while keeping the top of the head cool.
I've got fish pics now with that hat from Alaska, Europe, Africa, and lots of other locations - kinda like my old red boat jacket - some things never change...
If it works, don't fix it...
