removing sole in a 22-2

Am I correct that I can remove the sole by removing all the bolts that hole the rub rail on/go through the hull/inner liner? Are our boats basically a 3 part set up: Hull then the inner liner(sole) and then the cap?

What year?  For example - my 71 had no liner, so just curious.

Curious as well, if I ever have to take apart my '73 22-2

If I ever have to do hull work it will make my life 100x easier if I ever had to remove the sole to access underneath. I would hate to cut up my sole because it is in amazing shape. I plan on taking the cap off this winter to repair the damaged areas on the cap where it looks like somebody ran it under the dock or something. Would also be nice to gelcoat in my warm basement and not outside in freezing weather this coming winter

My '71 170 has a liner.
L2F - a liner is what we're calling the top of the boat that was made all in one peice (cap, inside sides of the boat and sole) and then set into the hull and attached to the stringer system with some kind of glue and then screwed around the area at the rubrail.  Some of the early Aquasports had the cap attached at the rubrail and you saw the inside of the hull below that and then the sole was attached to the stringers and the side of the hull.

yea mine is attached real well. Theres like a bolt every inch of the rubrail which is going to be a royal pain to undo. I dont even wanna imagine the glue

My '75 was three parts as described.  The sole and liner were trashed out so I did not take the following route.  

You can remove the rub rail, then the cap.  I don't recall any glue holding the cap.  Then the liner, casting deck and sole are one piece.  The liner is glued around the top edge but came loose pretty easily using a hammer and chisel.  The liner is hard connected at the transom.  You will have to cut that loose.  The sole is glued to the stringers with resin and cabosil.  I hope you have a way to hoist it out.  Its big and heavy and you will need a way to work the stringer glue.
