OK, *white flag*,need help with fiberglass repair in Jax, FL
« on: August 25, 2008, 03:39:15 PM »
OK guys, anybody have a referral for someone near Jacksonville FL, who can finish a transom rebuild?  I have '79 Cuddy cabin I/O.  The engine and fuel tank have been removed, and the entire center section of the transom has been removed, excepting the interior layer of fiberglass.  I have the whole outer section of fiberglass.  I had to remove all the rotten wood in between.  Both sides have been sanded down.  Don't really know if I did it 'right' or not.

Help!

Morgan,

Do you have any pics you can post?  If you can let us see what your situation is perhaps we can help you through the repair instead of farming the job out.

The problem is time mostly.  I'm looking at transferring in the near futire, and the honey-do-list is getting rather long, not leaving much time to learn a new skill.  In addition to getting the transom fixed, I need to get the new engine put back together with all the peripheral stuff, get it running, and attached to the drive...and all the other stuff...

If I could rop the boat off with someone else, then I could spend that time with stuff I have a some experience with...

anyways, I think I have pics already here...

SeaCast is probably the quickest way to fix a transom:
