Yamaha 200 adequate for Explorer 225?

I am considering the purchase of a 2002 Explorer 225 that appears to be in nice shape. It is powered with a 2002 Yamaha 200, which has only a 2.6 liter block. That seems a little on the small side for such a large boat. This one also has a hardtop. Does anyone have any experience with this model to say whether this is sufficient power?

Thanks, Pete. That's certainly fast enough for me.

Welcome aboard explorer1 :!: :!:
I would say that the same hull is used on both yours and Pete's boat. Your Explorer will have more weight due to the cabin but the 200 was certainly a standard engine on that boat and has been for years, I think even the 200 was standard on my 230. Should be fine.

Your absolutely right Rick. The only difference between the osprey and the explorer is the cap.Cabin or center console configuration.

I have a 150 hp honda on my 1987 22.2 Sandpiper. The boat will do 30 knots at 6000 rpm. I am on the ocean almost every day in the summer as a commercial rod and reel fisherman, and there are few days that I can ply this maxed out speed. I only spend about $200 a week for fuel.
