So is my 87 Osprey 200 (it does have stripes) a Miami built or Genmar built boat?

Aquasport went bust twice. It was reorganized as Aquasport Marine Industries in 1988 and then went over to Genmar about a year later. As far as I know, boats were built in Hialaleah through 1989.

I have been told that there was some corner cutting on materials from 1987 onward as suppliers were starting to cut Aquasport off. That might explain a difference in finish between the last Hialeah boats and the first Genmar ones. Overall, however, I think the finish on the old Aquasports was pretty good - certainly competetive with Genmar today.

again just my 2$ worth,if the logo on your boat looks like the one in our web site it is a hialeah build boat (none were built in miami) if it looks like the new version where the Q flows under the word aquasport
(like the flag in the classified section) it is propably a genmar build boat built in sarsota florida.

Thanks guys.  I guess I have one of the last Hialeah built ones.  Structurally it's a great boat.

The Aquasport History project is making some progress. Thanks to great teamwork, the old brochures that one member turned up have been sent to me here in Rome, and I've scanned them and put them in the Documentation/ Manuals section of the photo gallery.  You will find photos and specs on more than 20 models!

The site automatically downsizes photos when you upload them and so what is on the site is not great for downloading and printing (or for reading the fine print on the specs).  So, the files will be converted into a single high-res pdf (Acrobat) file for each brochure and made available on the site for download.  The specs for each model have also been gathered in an Excel file which will also be made available for download.

If you have materials or tech specs or physically own another model (one that is not in the list), please get in touch - we will update regularly.

You all need to thank the terrible weather in Rome this weekend for this output - otherwise I would never have stayed seated in front of the computer for so long - at least not on my own time!

I have a 1978 19.6' aquasport and the name plate says built in Hialeah, so I guess they were there at least till 78.
