Osprey 200 has Cracked Windshield
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:32:53 AM »
Hi,

My Osprey 200 has a crack running about six inches from the top down.  What can be done to keep the crack from enlarging?

How much are replacement windshields and where can they be bought?

You can get one of those glass stop kits from Wal-Mart auto dept., or call a local autoglass place (where you would normally call to get your car's glass repaired) and have them come out to do crack repair.  They'll charge you about $50.  I know boat glass isn't glazed and has doesn't have the safety film, so I'm not totally sure what a glass place will say.  But it's worth a try.

To stop the crack, drill a small hole next to where the crack ends/stops.

I bought a windshield for my 87 Osprey 222 from www.updplastics.com.  Exact copy and great price.

Seth,  I took the old almost demolished wind screen off my console and took it to my local plastic supply shop.  They used the old one as a pattern and formed me a new one out of acrylic for about  $150.  Looks and fits just like the old one.

MD
