HELP ON NEW CANVAS FOR 246 FAMILY FISHERMAN
« on: February 13, 2008, 03:40:01 PM »
HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL,
Can I get some help/direction on who to go to for new canvas for the above?
Seems like someone told me last year that RickK was the king of canvas.
I want to put a top on this thing and not necessarily the same top. That would also be fine, but I'm open to suggestions, The top I'm replacing snapped across the windshield and covered about half the cockpit clipping onto the gunwale. it was spread by two C bars whish were hinged and collapsed. it was also split with a zipper form thw windshield about halfway back.
Thanks in advance, Bob Dougherty

I would not say I'm the king of canvas, I just have more of it than most around here.
Here is the topic on my 230 as she was put into camping shape. Look on pages 10-12 for some ideas on things that can be done with canvas. Page 18 has a pic of the boat in the water with a mix of vinyl and screen up.  Put your ideas together and talk to a local canvas guy and make sure he listens to what you want - show him the pix on this topic if you have to.  Then get your wallet out and maybe cut off one of your arms too
The boat is a real plaesure to be on with the bimini up when it's sunny and hot - I think a lot of the people at the last get together would agree.  And when the going gets tough, the vinyl is a real blessing.  The screen however is very thick and blocks about 80% of the breeze - so we use it only when the skeeters get thick.
