Roger Smith 1926-2007
« on: December 26, 2007, 10:24:38 PM »
It is with sadness that I announce the passing of my father-in-law, Roger Smith. Roger was president of Aquasport from the late 60's until they moved production from Hialeah. Roger was partly responsible for the development of the Osprey line, that made Aquasport a respected name in fishing boats the world over. I had hoped to compile a history of Aquasport, but was unable to do so due to his failing health. He will be missed.

You may find this interesting- My family has been an Aquasport family since I was a kid. We had several Aquasports as I grew up. I got my first Aquasport at age 20, a brand new 1988 Osprey 170. I still have that boat and use it regularly, along with a 190, a 210, and a 230. I met my wife in 2001 and we dated for about 6 months before I found out her dad was president of Aquasport! Talk about a marriage that was meant to be!
