My Baitwell/Lean post
« on: November 17, 2007, 10:08:33 AM »
Was down @ Bayside this past Thursday, my '74 is looking strong, they were painting the cap as I left for home.  Getting very excited now.

Here is my custom baitwell/lean post:

If any of you guys are interested, you can go here and design your own, check out this cool web page:

Photos from Thursday to follow, forgot my camera AGAIN and waiting for Liz to send me some.  If not, I'm going back this Wednesday for more.  I am still looking at mid-December completion.  Yee-haw.

May I ask the ballpark price of your baitwell?

JJ - the starting price was at the bottom of the page.

Steve, looks good.   8)
Did you see the seat/baitwell in Mike's tower boat at the get-together?  VERY misleading - you opened the lid and THEN you found out that it went below deck to the hull bottom.  Nice design.  Didn't have the leaning post though.

Rick,

Yes, I was not impressed with that design.  I can think of a few difficulties in counter-sinking the baitwell thru the deck.  Number one would be my back.

71flatback- I am not trying to sell Will's products, but, you get what you pay for....These baitwells are built like a sherman tank.  Lots of options out there though.  My rebuild guy just happens to make them.

Thats a nice livewell, saw it at the boat FS boat show. Question though??? Is that the overflow drain at the very top? Can a standard pipe overflow be used on the bottom drain? Otherwise you would have to fill the whole livewell up for it to be useable? Is that the case or is the standing overflow just not in place? With the standing overflow you can keep 3 different lengths on board for how many gallons you wanted to hold.

My buddy just got one of these & uses stand pipes in the bottom drain 1 1/2" I think.

It was awesome getting to meet some of you guys at the raft up - just looked at pictures posted - cool time had by all, just sorry we late to leave the party early

Having actually seen both, the shape of the tub looks similar -but then so do quite a few out there  ) The Bayside one is extremely well built & thought out - as far as price goes - you pay for what you get

I would think that unloading a cast net directly into the livewell would be easy on his model and then use a long handle dip net?  I guess it drained right into the bilge or maybe into a macerator then overboard - I should have asked Mike I guess?  Where does the Bayside model drain - onto the deck? Both models are nice.

I have never seen a baitwell drain on the deck or to the bilge except homemade.  Mine drains thru the bottom to a bronze thruhull scoop facing backwards.
