2000 Aquasport 205 Osprey
« on: October 25, 2007, 09:02:30 PM »
Just purchased a 2000 205 Osprey to go along with my 1979 19-6 Osprey.  We bought the boat from a used dealer and he knows nothing about the boat.  The storage compartments in the floor on both the starboard and port side are full of water and I cannot figure out where the water is supposed to go.  I have figured out all the thru-hull fittings and what they go to, but the drain in these two compartments doesn't drain to the outside!  Does anybody have a clue where these compartments drain to????

Pull the plugs and check. They have to go empty into something.

I pulled the plugs (actually there were no plugs, just drain holes) and I have even run a water hose into the drains, but the water doesn't drain, it just comes back into the compartments...that's what has me completely baffeled....I have tried to follow the drain pipes, but they go into the inner hull and I lose them....if you put enough water into the compartments, it runs out onto the deck and drains out the desk drains, but the compartments themselves stay full of water......I can't figure out where the hoses connected to these compartments go..... :?:

That's weird.  Are they fishboxes? If so, maybe they go to a pump and macerator setup and then go overboard from there?

Thanx, RickK, that's exactly what they are....the macerater pump is completely rusted up and will have to be replaced...but that is why the water would not go anywhere....thanks again....

Disconnect the drain hoses from the pump inlets and the fishboxes will drain into the bilge.  If you are not going to use them in the future for fishboxes, you may want to bypass the pump and just drain them to the overboard thru-hulls.

See ya on the water!
