to redo or not to redo that is the question

i am redoing a 222 flatback and my top cap is in horrible shape what shoud i do? i am in need of any suggestions should i keep it and try reinforcing it and cleaning up the outside or should i tru making one similar to shines. i have no idea what to do it must come off this week so that i can glass all the way up the sides of the boat for reinforcement for the hull.

I would (barring something crazy) try to reuse the cap.  Shine's process would be a LOT of work.

You need to be careful to properly brace the hullsides before removing the cap, or you will never get it back on.
