i just recently bought a 1976   17ft AS and its in really good condition but has no motor any body have a good idea of what new motor i should put on there ill get pics on soon as i can

Seriously, sounds like a 4 stroke 90 is totally tight.  Brand?  That's all you.

About 320lbs is all that your boat will safely handle and still stay above the water when you come off plane.
Lots of topics here talking about "how much motor" - do some searching and hopefully that will help.

i thought it was going to be in that range i read almost all the posts on the 17 i read this post to that you ground the fuel inlet  to the tank then neg on the battry is that true                                   oh and drz part is i have a suzuki drz400 dualsport and the name drzdave kinda stuck
