Stainless steel t-top
« on: September 16, 2007, 11:15:47 PM »
Does anyone have a T-Top made by smith thats stainless and adjustable.Looking for a T-Top and seen this one at boaters world for 1500 which is a good price compared to a custom. Went to a custom shop and said 2500-3000 which is more than I would like to spend. The custom shop said the smith t-tops were junk and become loose and rattle after time and his would last as long as I own the boat. If anyone owns one your input would be great thank you sandman. 8)

My son had one on his last boat.  It was kind of sloppy but it's a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing.  Tops that are clamped together are not going to be as sturdy as one that is properly welded.  $3K is actually not bad for a quality top, for around here anyway.  The Smith top will give you shade as will a $300 bimini.

I would go with a custom made t-top because you don't want to be running along and thinking about your new wobbly boaters world t-top flying off into the ocean.  Plus it is custom...you can have them design exactly the way you want it.

I searched around for a t-top for my 22-2 a couple of years ago and found Classic Image Marine  They had the best prices, by far.  He will build what ever you want.  I live in Connecticut, he had it shipped to me for a very reasonable price.  He also built my leaning post that has rod holders, a hand rail and space for a 72 quart cooler.  I saved around 50% including shipping.
I got a great set-up for a great price.

the web address that I had isn't working, but I found him at this address.
