Finally got some time to get a photo thread going.  Cannot tell you guys how excited I am.  This has been 10 years of waiting and wanting.


There she sits ready to get started.  The hull is nearly flawless, no bulges, patches, all lines smooth and true!




She is to be an I/O convert!




Controls were moved way forward by the previous owner.  Had to be a crab boat.  The "boss" looks on and I have full approval.  Would I have ever married a woman who wasn't a boating enthusiast?  Heck no!




This is 5 days later.  We had to go back over to Bayside Marine and look over the stringers, fuel tank options, deck layout, etc. after the old deck had been ripped out and all hardware removed.  Decided to take the Ranger out and harrass some redfish in the morning before heading out.  This 20 pounder took me into the groves twice before giving up.  God bless Power Pro...




Well, we got there and I took all kinds of detailed pics.  Don't know what the heck was up but this photo was the only one that wasn't too dark to view.  Hull is ready to begin full restore.  All foam and stringers were dry, transom was dry and solid.  Got lucky there, a great clean canvas to start with!

Hey undertow, I would reconsider repowering with an i/o.
TRUST me nothing but a head ache. My two cents:  Looking at your photos you are at step one. You are at the stage of your project were you could set her up for an outboard.
    We have an 280 omc sterndrive and I swear I would never buy another.
They are nice at first, but when something go's wrong the are extremeley difficult to work on, not to mention expensive. Good luck!

175hp Suzuki Outboard was purchased 2 weeks ago.  Nothing against I/O's, they're just not for me.

I thought you were converting her INTO an i o. It look as thought she had an inboard inher.  Good Luck!!!  Out boards are the best..

capt dave, i think you and i got advice from some of the same people around here i am surprised we never met before.  i am a yammy guy been one for 20+ years all the way back to my first YZ-80...but, suzuki has proven themselves here lately and paying 1/3 less per hp is something that can't be ignored.  the deal i got on that 175 was almost surreal.  my Ranger packs a yammy.

going to see Will and my '74 tomorrow, been over a week a lot more has been done.  meeting with the dude from paramount to discuss options while there for the tower.  its a lot to consider.

This is a shot taken from the starboard stern side looking towards midships.  Mild alterations to accomodate the pumps, etc. from the I/O design.  Will actually work to our advantage:

Undertow... I am very jealous, I don't mean to be rude, but what was your budget for this project? Not including the outboard.

I am wanting to do the same thing to my Osprey 200, so I am very interested in a what a project like this would cost.

Well, guys and girls I was down in Palmetto today to visit the girl and she's coming along nicely.  Forgot the "F-ing" camera.... DUH, DER!!

I will be back down there next week to get some photos.  Starting to see real progress.  Transom is done, and they are putting the finishing touches on the top cap.  Looks real nice, lines are smooth and true.  Deck is done 4' from the transom, using the $$ Coosa for that.  Came to an agreement with Will about swapping the swim platforms for trim tabs.  What a relief.  Will is, at this point, living up to his word.  I have no doubt that the remainder of the job will be pleasant now.  I don't always do so, but I honestly feel like I made the best choice going with Bayside Marine Services.

Decided today (99.9% sure) to go with the T-Top tower dual station set-up.  This is the tower design whereas you are basically standing 1-3" above the console and the upper station just barely is jutting out above the canvas on the T-Top.  It's cheaper, VERY sharp, doesn't screw with the center of gravity quite so much, nothing to fold down, and I will only need the metal building I am putting in the backyard for it to have a 12' door as opposed to 14'+ that adds HUGELY to the cost.  Plus, I don't want another "Tampa Tower Boat."  I will be able to spot fish just fine from this vantage point.
