Livewell

Hi, new here and have a few questions.

I just bought a 1987 17' Aquasport. In front of the Console there is a livewell/seat. The previous owner tore outeverything. Now I have two holes along the top one hole near the bottom and the drain hole that lets it drain down the side of the boat. My question is what is the easiest way to go about installing a livewell pump. I've looked around the access panels and pulling a tube through the hull of this boat is going to be a challenge. Not to mention I dont have a thru hull allready. Would a transom mounted pump be the easiest solution and just run the water hose inside the cavity on the starboad side that has the steering and throttle cables up to the bottom hole. My thinking is the top to holes in the baitwell were for lights? Also I want to find a way to put a t fitting on the livewell pump so that it serves as a saltwater wash down. Any tips or advice from previous installs would be awesome. At the moment I have two pumps and thats about it. Thanks again for the help I'll try and include a picture later.

Very nice looking vessel

That live well is like mine, the pump that was in there was for recirculating the water only, you would have to bail water  to fill it up and the drain... well it just drains on the deck.

Thanks Man, so what would you do to replace the console doors if at all? Also thinking about installing a saltwater washdown any ideas on good placement?

Nice looking boat.  Nice color paint - badge looks good too.

The only thing leading up to the console is the trough to starboard?  They didn't put any tubing in by that year?  My '71 has the same trough then    
If you do a search on "livewell" or "pumps" you'll probably come up with a few topics covering what you're asking - I remember several people having transom mounted pumps.
As for the console doors, try Star Board.  That would look fine and function well too.

Whoever did the paintwork & badge did a great job.  Can you get back in touch with the old owner and see what the deal was with the livewell set-up?  Seems odd to have taken out the plumbing.

so star board for the doors on the console? is that pretty easy to cutt? Anyone know any back draws to using plexiglass instead?

Plexi can be brittle, and it is not machinable like starboard.  Starboard can be drilled, cut and routed.... not so with Plexi (not easily at least)
