I am about to purchase the above mentioned boat, app 5K.  Boat appears to be in good shape, Powered by a Johnson 150GT.
I looked at the transom, it looks good to me. I really like the boat, what should I be wary of?

Just the usual: Check the outboard for compression and check the gearcase oil for metal shavings.  The transom should not flex too much and the sole should be solid.

Honestly, and I know this sounds crazy...but the engine is the least of my worries, lots of very experienced friends as far as outboards go.
I looked at the boat yesterday, done a visual of the transom, it looks good.
The boat looks real nice, the floor felt good, all the wood is in place, very good looking boat for the age.
Just butterflies I guess, the guy is actually waiting on my call as we speak  (type) as to weather or not I am going to take it.

:D Well, I'm about to leave to go pick-up my new to me boat.

Wish me luck, I know it is the weekend, but if anybody has any info and or suggestions, please let me know.

I am new to this site, so, if someone could direct me where to find spec sheets, brochures, etc.

I'll post pics tonight.

Well, one more cup of coffee for the road and I'm outta here.

Thanks

Good Luck Keith.
For spec sheets, go to the Photo Gallery and on the first page scroll down and you'll see the sheets we have by boat size.

Enjoy your new boat!  I have the same year/model.  The only real issue I have with it is the original wiring/switches/gauges are falling apart and need to be redone.

Oh Boy :!:   I hope thats all I have to worry about, the mechanical and electrical does not bother me, it's the fiberglass I am scared to death of, I just got back with, I am going to go over some things here at the shop and then I am going to run it a little while.

I am going to post some pictures tonight, maybe you could put some of yours up?

Congrats on the new boat Keith!   :D  The 200 is a nice size - big enough to handle some water, yet small enough to trailer without having a monster truck.  The 150 should move it along well without using a ton of gas (OK, it's a 2-stroke so it will be a half ton of gas...)

Welcome to the Classic Aquasport group and let's see some pictures!

Well I know it's late, But I gotta tell ya,we took the boat out in the river, I guess you should know I live in Lafayette, LA and we are only 10 minutes from any type of water you can think of, river, bayou. swamp, and only 45 minutes from the bay, I guess thats why I now have 3 boats.

We put the Osprey 200 in the river and made a 40 mile run roundtrip, I WAS IMPRESSED, the boat runs out good, once I get comfortable with the trim of the motor and the trim tabs, I'm sure it will just get better.
This is the first boat I have ever had with hydraulic steering and I like it :!:

3400 rpms produced app. 25-30mph, and 4500 rpms was putting us at a solid 40 mph.

I really don't have anything to compare it with, but I am very pleased.

I got some pictures and I will get my wife Sandy, by the way that will be the name of the boat "Miss Sandy" to help me post them tomorrow.
I promise.

Keith

Keith, the highest top speed you can expect from a 150 hp is probably low to mid 40s.  I can hit 44 or 45 on a good day, but conditions have to be perfect.  I have a 97 Johnson 150.

From reading other people's experiences, it seems that these hulls hit a wall in the mid 40s and it doesn't matter how much power you have, you're not going to get much more speed.

The boat gets on plane quick, stays on plane easy, runs shallow, is safe offshore, good fuel efficiency, yada yada yada.  The only drawbacks are a rough and wet ride when the going gets rough.  That's the price you pay for the extremely shallow draft.

Look in the "Aquasport Resources" Forum and the first topic explains how.
