'82 246 CCP Transom
« on: August 10, 2007, 07:47:35 AM »
I'm going to jump on the wagon and close the transom on my '82 246 CCP. I will be keeping my single Yam 250 OX66. The transom I know, the bracket to use I don't. New? Used? Brand? I noticed those Springfield brackets over on the hull truth. Any comments?

BTW: That was my 246 for sale over there that someone linked to classicaquasport. Thanks to him that linked it.

One other question: In a heavy trailing sea, my boat tends to bog down on occasion. Motor runs fine. I've been told to check my prop pitch. Any comments?

Thanks
DQ

The bracket you will want to use is the one that provides the most floatation.  A person who is fairly knowledgable on that topic (and many others) is Warthog from Classicmako... I believe he had his bracket custom made.

The idea is you want as much of the "tub" in the water as possible, because that helps offset the added leverage of your motor being moved back two feet.

Check this thread for info on my closed transom. I went with a D&D custom tub. Per Wart's advise I went larger on the flotation chamber so when the boat is at rest she drains well and the scuppers are well out of the water.
