Hull weight
« on: April 29, 2007, 01:21:47 PM »
Gentlemen,
I'm new to the board so forgive me if this has appeared before.
I purchased a 1987  Aquasport 2550.  Registration says this is a 24ft boat, but overall lenght including motors is 29 1/2 ft.  Does anyone know the hull weight of this boat?  also, can the front fuel cell be accessed without removing the console?

Is this is similar to your boat?

Dry weight shown as 6k.  Don't know about the fuel tank access.

Any pictures?  That would help us figure out what model it is.

Guys, thanks for the replies.  I think this is 2550 Osprey.  It is a center console  boat. with t-top.  I have no pictures, sorry.  I do know that is considerably larger than my cousin's 24ft. Of course his is much newer than mine.

Does it have a raised deck in the front?

We're just feeling you out - you said "I think this is 2550 Osprey" - the raised deck confirms this.  So now, Jim can look for a 250 Osprey (don't think there was such an animal as a 2550) in his Literature stash and come up with a weight or someone else that has the same year and model can pipe in.
Nothing magic going on here

Thanks guys.  The decals on the side say 2550.  Don't know if they are original or not.  If anyone has any info on how to access the front fuel cell please pass it along.  I'm hoping to not need to remove the entire console.

Next project will be to repaint the boat.  It is currently white/gray.  Upholstery is burgundy as well as the top.

Does this help?

Sorry about the tiny print but that's as big a scan as Photobucket will allow.

Jim, those pics are very similar to my boat.  The paint job is the exact same.   My boat only has one set of rod holders per side..   Due to size I think the hull weight will be very close to these specs.  Thanks for all the help.

JIm, since you were able to acquire those spec sheets, do you think the HIN# would help?  I do know my boat has 2 fuel cells that each hold 103 gallons.  One fuel cell front and one rear.  Front deck has one large compartment center and  two smaller to eithe side.   Rear fishing area has a fish box on either side in the floor.  Console has full instumentation, front portion of the console has two sinks on the port side and a bait well on the starboard side,  cutting board covers one sink and fold back over the second .   Again thanks for all your help.

Genmar thoughtfully trashed all the build records when they took over Aquasport so the HIN won't help.  Somehow if you can get pictures posted that would help out a lot in figuring exactly what you've got.
