You seem like a very knowledgeable kinda guy.  What is the max horse power i should put on a 74 22?  I have seen 230 245 and 200 i have a 225 to put on there but i am alittle sketchy. What do you think? Thanks

I'll defer that question to one of the others.  Have never had a 222 with an outboard.

Am not knowledgeable.  You will come to this realization over time.

HP rating varied a little over the years but I don't think more than 10 or 15 HP.  Digging through the scanned documents in the Gallery might answer that for you.

Mine is rated for 240.  The 225 should be good on any of them.  You don't need that much but it will hold it if the boat is solid.  If I didn't have all that structure in the air creating drag I would not want my 225 HP.
