gas tank

I have a 1979 17ft aquasport. the previous owner took out the gas tank. i want to put another gas tank back in it. does anybody have a 17ft aquasport with the gas tank under the center console and it goes back towards the transom. how big of a tank fits in there?

I had a 1988 170 that I replaced the tank in last year.  I would think that it would be the same size.  Mine was 56"long, 20"wide and 6" tall.  I still have the drawing that I used to have the tank made under Microsoft Excel.  You can either pm me or give me your e-mail address and I will be happy to send it to you.

Sorry, I should have added that it is a 27 gallon tank and it is located in the tub under the deck under the console toward the rear.

You're asking a mixed question - my '71 170 has a fuel tank under the center console BUT ABOVE the sole.  Is the one you want to replace under the sole or under the center console (or both I guess )?
