AS 22 Bow Rail
« on: March 09, 2007, 12:13:48 PM »
Hi all,

Does anybody have a bow rail drawing for an AS 22? I want to either get a used one (if anybody knows someone with one that would be great) or make a new SS one from a drawing or pattern. I work for a boat builder so fab is no problem. Good photos of a stock AS rail would be helpful too. Thanks!

I hope this might help somehow, it is the best pic of my bowrail I have.   YOu can see I'm still snugging it down.  This was taken last June sometime.

Thanks very much. That's helpful. What you have is a "Stock" AS bow rail?

My Dad had bought this boat new in 1987 and this rail was on the boat which I believe was stock and was an option.  You can see some rewelding that was done at the forwardmost stanchions as they cracked and broke and I had it welded up and is now stronger than it was previous and have had no further issues, you can see that the very front part does angle down every so slightly but is hardly noticeable.

I noticed you are in ME.  If you would like to drive down to me in MA, I am on the NH/ITS 93 border to take a look/get some measuremets, just let me know.

That's great. Yes, I live Downeast of Acadia National Park or pretty close to the End of the Earth which I can just see from my house! I do travel to MA monthly so I'll see if my schedule allows a detour one of these times. Thanks again, I really appreciate the help. I have young kids and want the extra measure of safety when they're forward.

I'm in Methuen MA, just off 93.  I'm around every night during the week but am usually off somewhere on the weekends and as the weather has been nice, I'm on the boat somewhere.  I'll have the boat at home until at least mid-May so just let me know when you would like to come by to check it out and I'd be happy to show you the boat/rail/take measurements and such.  I check this site at least once a day so you can find me here, I can give you my cell # or email, whatever works for you.

1972. I bought it cheap and a wreck but spent last winter restoring it. Looks pretty nice now. I thought since I work for a yacht company I better not be seen in a scow so I went the extra mile (and dollar!) About the only part that is original from the boat I bought other than the usual is the engine, an 1989 Evinrude 175. It works just fine, but is a little chipped in appearance and smelly. I don't know how to down load photos to this web site but i can email you some.

Thanks very much. That's helpful. I want to fab a SS rail and have been looking for guidence on what it should look like. Your AS 22 looks like mine did when I started my restoration project. How are you making out?
