I am currently looking at a 1984 or 85 17' Osprey CC. The motor is shot. I could find the specs for maximum horsepower for the hull but not recommended or minimum. I have located a 75 HP. Will this engine be enough to push the hull quickly up on plane?
Thanks for any information.

Had a Merc 75 2-stroke on my 170 and it pushed her along at ~32 MPH. 75 will pop your boat onto plane with no problems. Make sure the prop is right.

Absolutely. I had a 84' osprey with an 84' 4 cylinder 75hp Merc. Went about 28-29 knts and was great for tubing and wakeboarding, dont kno about skiing. Will certainly make it move though. I would advise adding a doelfin though, it helps alot.
