This boat started out as my father’s boat. It was an I/O originally. He removed the engine, reinforced the transom and mounted an outboard bracket.  He didn't get much further before he passed away.

I've had her now for 11 years sitting and waiting for me to get her fixed up and back in the water.  I think it's about time.

First thing I need is a trailer.  If anyone near Tampa knows of a good trailer for sale please let me know.

I’d love to do the restoration myself but I know it will never get done.  After I get a trailer I’ll be getting some quotes for have someone do it for me.  I hope to have it completed by this summer.

Once the restoration starts, I’ll keep pictures posted of the progress.

Mike and I were at an alumni function a few days ago and started telling me about a 1970's AS he had.  My attention was piqued, and I reinforced that he should post some boat porn.   8)

You know, something that would be an interesting skinny water boat would be to go back to the I/O with a jet drive.  You could probably run in 6-10" of water with no problem.

Even an outboard jet drive could work - although I don't know of anyone who makes a jet outboard big enough for a 222 (150HP)...

There was one for sale on ebay last year in Maine which sold for $25k.  Found the listing but the pictures are no longer available.  This was the text of the ad which describes how it was set-up:

This is a 1976 Aquasport Center Console. It has been Professionally converted to a Hamilton Jet Drive with a Mercury power plant configuration in 2003. The engine is a 5.7L Mercury inboard with a 72C transmission which transmits the power back to the Hamilton Jet Drive. This is a package deal which includes a EZ Loader galvanized trailer model number TEZR 19-22/24.  This item is also FOR SALE Locally. We reserve  the right to end auction early if it sells locally.

I remember seeing that one.  If I remember right, wasn't it set up as a tender - or was that another one?  

A flatback jet drive would be a great skinny water boat!  Even the 12 degree hulls would work...  

A 76 for $25K ain't a boat to sneeze at!   8)

The one set up as a tender was all tarted-up & had the diesel in it which made about 15 MPH or so as I recall.  The Jet in Maine had a V8 and looked like it really moved.

The Merc ad mentions pulling skiers - imagine a skier behind the boat in the Berkley ad.  If they ever crossed sides, like to jump the wake, they'd be blown right out of their skis

Hey guys, thanks for the friendly welcomes.

I'm leaning toward a 200 HP ETec to push her along.
Although a jet drive would be cool, that just might put me over my budget.

I am in Lakeland and I am doing the same thing. I have a very good 22.2 hull in good shape and I am going to have it rebuilt from the ground up. Keep me posted on what you find as far as a place to do it. I am researching that very thing now. thanks
