First post & first Aquasport
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:57:16 PM »
I just brought home my first Aquasport, a 222 ccp. I figured this hull would handle my river travels easily. It had been stripped of power & all electrical equipment requiring a rewire project & installation of my old, trusty merc black max 150. I hope it will push this 222 OK. I'll post a photo or 2 if I figure out how.

Welcome Aboard riverratjr!!

That Black Max will push her along fine - maybe not the fastest, but she'll do in the 30s.

Once you're logged in, you click on photo gallery and in the right top, you'll see upload pictures.  Before you upload the pix, scale them to 640x480 which will size them so if you post them in a thread, people won't have to scroll right to see the whole pix.  Your camera software can do that or you can get some freeware on the web to help.
Any more questions, fire away.
Again, welcome aboard.

I would like to see pics of your CCP. 1991 was about the last year for the CCP and will handle anything on the river. You will probably find yourself looking for wakes. LOL A 200 will get you into the high 40's WOT.

Thanks for the feedback. I loaded one picture & found it under 'R' in the directory for 1st initial. The rewire part of this project will take some time (6 weeks?) The repower part shouldn't take long. My 1988 Mercury got a factory reman powerhead & general rebuild 27 engine hours ago & I'm looking forward to hearing it sing behind this 222

Sounds like that Black Max is just broken in :)

Badger - a 3 litre Merc 200 might get you into the mid 40's on a 222CCP, but I don't think you are going to get there with a 2.4 or 2.5 litre...   ~40 seems about top for a 200 HP 2.4/2.5.  Most 3 litre 200s are really putting out a good bit more that 200.  With the right prop, I think a 3 litre 200 will outrun a 2.5 litre 225 - there's just no subsitute for cubic inches!  (or cubic centimeters)...

I did buy it on ebay & picked it up in Mt. Pleasant/Charleston Harbor,S.C. WHAT A NICE TOWN! I spent a few days there & really liked it. I,too, believe that there is no replacement for displacement.  I am going to use my 150 Black Max with a jack plate (20" shaft from my Nitro) & hope it works. My river use of this rig ought to be OK. If I was out in the BIG water I would probably opt for twin 100 hp units. I must admit I like the idea of a 225ish hp Suzuki. What I like & what I can afford are different.

That's moving right along for a 200  :!:  :!:
Wonder why my 250 won't do that?

1-way more weight than CCP
2-probably more air resistance also
3-What is your WOT rpm?

I can break 40 with my 225 with all the extra air resistance and weight that I have.
