Searching for a 20' CCP
« on: February 08, 2007, 12:07:40 AM »
Hello to all..

Have fished a buddy's 17' and 20'CC but the ride did not compare to a 20'CCP i was able to get a ride on. I think it was a 1984 boat. It cut the water so much better and the gunnel height was nice and high. So at this point my search begins for a 20'CCP of my own.

Would prefer a turn-key situation but am flexible. Just need to locate the hull hopefully before the spring gets too sprung. Will road trip where I have to. Any direction or leads would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Welcome NIGHTIDES - does it have to be a 200 CCP?  Can it be a 222 CCP?  Definitely gonna find a lot more of the 222 version.

Welcome to the madness NIGHTIDES!

In your search for a boat, this Spring may bring some CCP's out onto the market.  Frustrating part is most of the nice boats are in Fl.   Worth a trip for the right boat.  Keep an eye on ebay and craigslist.

Hi Nighttides...

those are a great boat but hard to find..ask jdupree..he just bought mine last month and was looking for a LONG time...the 222's are a lot more plentiful..but most up north where we are have been put up for the season..march/april should really open the flood gates..although there was a nice one in FL that was posted in the classifieds section on the board a few posts ago..good luck in the search and let us know how it goes
Its called fishing not catching for a reason.  Usually operator error

Nightides,

This site is the only reason that I was able to find the 200 CCP and it actually found me :) rsh19904 found that I had a post very similar to yours and contacted me.  The rest is history.

The 200 CCP's are very hard to find, and if you find a 222 in "turn key" condition you will pay dearly for it.  If you will look back at the classified section from a week or two ago I posted a 200 CCP for sale on boat trader.com.  Welcome and good luck :!:

Thanks for the welcome..

Yes I know the 22CCP would be an easier find but it is too much boat for my intended use at the present time. Some of the 22CCP boats I have seen around for sale are very nice.

LilRichard & jdupree: I saw that listing and got some additional photos from the seller as well. The transom on the starboard side has a crack through the gel coat and fiberglass clear across. A transom rebuild is something I would like to stay away from if I can.

JimCt: I do the search thing all the time on Craig's list and Ebay.. and see that listings from there always seem to end up on this site when a member catches wind of them.

People hold on to these hulls forever.. and it looks like it is going to be a tough find.

Thanks for the good wishes and I will appreciate the heads up as we move towards the spring.. keep them coming.. cheers.

Are you just going to hold out for a 20' CCP :?: I thought you might be considering a 22' if you had to.  I will be on the lookout for you.  Check out my picture gallery to see a photo of the 20' CCP I just bought.  Look at my thread as well under rebuilds for the refurbish of the 1981 CCP and I have a couple of photos of the inside.  I plan to add more when the weather warms up and I can do more.  I will keep an eye out for you

jdupree: Yep that is the plan. Boat will be shared with an oldtimer (hope he does not read this post..) that feels 20' is his limit.

The 22' butters my bread better but he is calling the shots on size.

Not to familiar with the different models.  But is the CCP the same thing as a 19'6" Center steering?

My dad has one sitting in his field at the farm.  Engine is blown, had a I/O merc in it at one time.  I think the year of the boat is 1975 or 73.

If your interested let me know, meanwhile I will try to get some pictures on the board in case anyone else is interested.

In the old days, an Osprey Center Console had the low freeboard and a casting deck in the front - made for shallower water I suspect.  A CCP is a Center Console Professional that has no casting deck and high freeboard all around - made for deep water and has a deeper "V".
Nowadays, an Osprey has deep "V", high freeboard and also a casting deck.  CCP is gone. (Well they're all gone now  :( )
