1971 22-2 Weight and balance
« on: June 01, 2025, 10:31:47 AM »
New to the forum, just getting started with the rigging of my 22-2 I'm planning a 200 Mercury Pro XS four stroke.  475# and planning to hang it on a porta bracket.  Fuel tank has been lowered into the floor.  I'm planning to put the batteries forward under the casting platform.  My other boats primarily Action Craft's i've always moved the weight forward for better planeing but this is a different animal.  Any recommendations?  Also debating full tower, but have heard that can get tipsy?

Second big question, this boat has the in the floor live well with the Plexiglas windows.  Anyone know how to polish those up?

Thanks
Mark

Based on the 20 years I have been moderating this forum the preferred engine is a merc 150 (the design was for a 70 hp)  - the FB seems to be a different animal to control in chop and can bow steer you to a 90 degree change in direction in an instant. We have a member that put a 250 on his FB and he said it was very scary.

That space up front wasn't originally a live well, you've got a Diver model with the viewing windows and somebody has modified some holes through the hull to use it as a livewell. No clue how to polish those up they look pretty far gone.
Do you also have the folding bench outside the boat on the side?
