Just about any configuration of twin motors (115,140,150hp) will be heavier than a single 300hp motor from the research. You typically get better efficiency, speed, etc. with a single 300 with less weight on the transom. 2 strokes were indeed lighter than todays 4 strokes with the same horsepower but the Yamaha lineup is really hard to beat. With a dry hull weight of 2600lbs, I would imagine you would be really happy with a single 300.
I would think with an 8’ beam, twins of any size would be a no go.
