Are you gel coating or painting? If gel coating, give it a few thick coats to close the gaps.

Gel coating. I guess I can give that a try. I fear the rounded corners and square gutters will doom this hatch.  Will ruminate on it a few days, perhaps.

Pulled the trigger and cut the cloth. Will laminate over the weekend probably.

Laminating in the summer means sweat drips into your piece. Had to fix a few spots. Did not get a pic of the bad spot but you'll know it when you see it because it's brown and soft. Yes, appropriately brown and.soft

Hatch fits much better now

Glued the port center deck down with 2 tubes of 5200. Go time.

Tabbed 2/3 of middle deck. Looks bubble free.

I have a gelcoat question.  Parts of the below gel coat cured and parts didn't.  It's going to sit for 24 hours before I get to it. Assuming it doesn't cure, what is the cleanup process. When I screw up glass I grind it off. What do you for not cured gel coat. I guess I didn't kick it hard enough.

Finished glassing the deck panel

Came out good.

The 4 or 5 spots that didn't cure were wiped off with acetone.  They have since dried so I think the gel coat job is good to go. It's the underside of the deck in the bilge area so no one will ever see it anyway.

Great news on the gelcoat curing Duffy! One thing i will say is to make sure you get all of the uncured gel off. I have paid hell trying to get what seemed like the last layer on my 81'. It attracts dirt like nothing else of course. However, it seems as though it had something to do with the duratec High Gloss additive that I used for it thin out lay down flatter when sprayed. It did come out nice but i think i did something wrong where the last layer needed a good wipe with acetone to get it tack free.

All the gel coat I've done has been in in storage areas. All yall are braver than me applying top side. The pics of your 81 look great so you did something right.

The bow had significant damage and the bow is super wavy. Having never faired anything, you think it's doable?
