1997 215DC Wiring Questions
« on: April 04, 2023, 10:15:24 AM »
Greetings,
First time poster, a few month lurker...  I have decided to add a second battery to the boat using the Blue Sea "Add a Battery" system with ACR.  Currently it has a standard Battery switch (on/off) and I believe its a Blue Sea as well.  I have all the components to start the install, but realized there a couple connections in the battery area that have been disco'd and one connector that has been unplugged.  PO has no idea what it is for either.  Wondering if there is a resource for a wiring diagram that someone may have or someplace I could find it?  I did a cursory forum search but nothing came up for my year and boat model...  Can anyone assist?  I'm off to search the web, but thought I would try the experts first.  Thanks, Dave

I don't know about the 215 but I would venture to say that there isn't a factory wiring diagram that was provided with the purchase. I could be wrong though. Personally, your best bet is going to be tracing those wires (trace the colors, gauge, etc.) with a simple ohm meter to check where they lead to. Unfortunately you may find that the P.O had a "Marine Electrician" do some work and he abandoned some wiring and just pulled new wiring to make the necessary repairs to "make it work". I pulled my 81' apart when I got it because it was an absolute mess in the console and lost a lot of water time in the name of safety. I know that doesn't give you what your asking but may be a good start.

I've rewired enough classic cars to know you are spot on. Thank you Ulysses485.  Figured I would ask first if I could save time on the upgrade so my son and I can take a day for a fishing trip.  Nothing wrong with one battery for now, (its been fine since 1997 and two other owners).  I'm just a huge fan of safety, with a slightly psycho mindset for overkill and redundancy.  LOL  But like they say, paralysis by analysis takes the fun away.  Cheers

I can't recall a 215 DC but I did find a 210 Coastal that if you scroll through the owner's manual, you may find a little something that helps. As Ulysses stated, we don't have a lot on wiring diagrams, just generic wiring that you adapt to your particular hull. Again, this is for a 210 Coastal Wellcraft which is the exact same hull as a 215 EX re-badged as an Aquasport.

Thank you.  I was able to do some wire trace work and got the dual battery system installed.  Had a nice day on the water right afterwards.  I'll open up that link as there are a number of wire connectors that look like they have been disco'd
