I have 1969 222 flatback that i am rebuilding. I have transom and floor ripped out. I am looking for place to finish job. I live in Connecticut. Any places in my area? Cost to install new transom, stringers and deck?

Pictures would be of great help to understand the condition. Considering the age of the flatbacks and their foam filled stringers being open cell and waterlogged, they tend to go through a complete rebuild top to bottom. However, its not uncommon for some to reuse the box stringer forms with some reforming, re-foaming, and additional reinforcements (stringer knee ties) due to a slightly different design from how they were originally intended to be used. What are your plans for it? This is a factor that will contribute to what you might spend. You will probably find that the sky is the limit but  could have a shop replace the transom and you could finish the decks and stringers. Things have likely changed quite a bit over the past couple years but you could be looking at 20-50k for a complete rebuild depending on what you want done. Most of us on here find the Classic Aquasport as the perfect platform for the shallows but are just as versatile to take a little chop (however, the flatback doesn’t do as well as the 12 degree Classic (72-88 model 222s). My opinion: You already have it gutted? Seems like one of the hardest parts. With grinding being right there on top along with hours of sanding. Why not just keep going? Fiberglass work is actually not as hard as people make it out to be as long as you can either dress accordingly or just be ok with the itch. Hahaha. Hope that helped.

I have some pictures in my profile. I don’t have a building or shed to work on the fiberglass. Temps here in Connecticut not good. If I could get it done for around $5000.00 new transom, new stringers, new deck, and gelcoat.???? I know products prices have gone crazy.

Matt,

Just The material bill if you did all the labor yourself would be about $5k. These rebuilds don’t happen over a weekend even if a shop does them so waiting for spring to get a bulk of the glass work done on the structural components is probably expected unless laying a premium for shop space. Get yourself a portable 1.5 tubular tarp style carport and you can get all the grinding done while you are waiting for a warmer day to do some glass work. Although, you get snow so I don’t know how that would play a part.. lol. Anyhow, there is a lot of experience on this board so the better you get at posting pictures and asking questions, the more you’ll realize that it’s a very doable task if your up to it. I’m happy to help in anyway I can as I am in the thick of it on a couple projects.

"Use the gallery. Provided for you, to upload your pics.  Follow the instructions here http://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=12725.0  - don't attach them - you are limited by file size. Uploading them into your "member gallery" is better for viewing.
Spend a few minutes to absorb the instructions. It's really easy. Remember if using a phone to take pics, to hold the phone horizontal with the lens to the left. "

See above instructions and see if that helps. You can either upload by desktop using the gallery but I find it easier to just upload them from my cellphone because that's where I take them. I usually will hop on a desktop after I upload them because its easier for me to use a mouse and keyboard to copy the image links in the gallery page into the reply bar. You can also preview your post before you post it.
