Orange foamy substance
« on: November 02, 2022, 03:53:50 PM »
Hello all, I removed my cooler seat a couple weeks ago so I could get better access to console wiring. When I came out to work on boat yesterday (boat is currently in my garage) I noticed a wet orange foam that appears to have come out of two screws holes on the deck that are for the cooler seat. It almost looked like an insect burrowed and the orange stuff was droppings but it seemed far too wet and had a somewhat chemical smell. When I walked out today I noticed the same substance around a nearby deck hatch. Any idea what this could be?!? Thanks in advance for any help. I've attached pictures I took today below. Brownish rings around screw holes are whats left of substance from yesterday and orange substance around hatch is fresh from today.

It just happened again. Better photos attached. Second photo I ran the tip of a screwdriver through it to show watery consistency.

Lol. Thanks for the replies. I've settled on some type of fast growing mold. I was terrified that some sort of insect was eating fiberglass in the deck.

It’s actually called orange mold. Which how it’s presenting itself probably means your deck core is soaked.
