Hey ya'll! First time posting here!
I'm looking at buying a 1996 245 Explorer. I'd like some info on the transom. I've read that they have a poured lower and wood upper.... maybe?? Anyone know for sure if that year had a solid poured transom? Any other info you can send my way on this model would be appreciated.
Max capacity for passengers? I haven't found capacity plate pic anywhere online.
Anyone that has this model please hollar...

Thanks!

There was a transition time when they went from plywood to poured, we just can't give you an exact date/year. My '92 230 Explorer may or may not have a poured transom but it does have wood upper wings. By '96 I would think they all had poured transoms - depend on what Genmar was using for their lineup.
You can tap on the transom with a socket or pound on it with a rubber mallet. The Euro transom in '96 has all the "Euro" stuff in the back in front of the actual transom.

Only way to tell for sure is take an engine mounting bolt out and dig around in the hole.

Gleaned from our Resource Forum.

Model year 2000 for the 245/250 is the same.

Note: Both the Osprey and Ex share the same capacity plates (labeled for the model itself). They are the same hull with different caps. The 250 is just a 245 with different decals. Same specs.
