Repowering 1995 225 osprey cc
« on: November 07, 2021, 05:29:25 PM »
I’m looking into repowering my 1995 225 osprey and am considering a 2020 Suzuki 300 to replace the 200 Johnson ocean runner currently on it . I’ve seen photos of several 225 ospreys that have been refitted with the Suzuki 300 on them. I’ve read all sorts of comments on the internet from; it’s too much torque on the transom ; the 300 weighs too much; too much hp for the boat etc. then others have dismissed these concerns and said it was fine, the boat is rated for a 300 hp motor, the weight is marginal , the boat can handle the torque etc. I’m hoping for some input into this from anyone who may have information on repowering the 225 osprey with the 4 stroke Suzuki 300. Thanks

Not the 225 but the 205 with a inline 200.    100  lbs more no issue at all , I think the 300 is the same no issue for weight. My best advice would be to make sure the related components are new  fuel lines stearing etc..
And most importantly new batteries these new zukes will give you fits if they are not up to snuf
You’ll love your boat again with this upgrade

Thanks for responding back Plugger, I appreciate your input. From everything I’m reading and being told, the Suzuki 300 will be a great fit on my osprey. Just recently had a new sea star hydraulic steering system and helm put on so I’m good with that and will make sure to look into the new fuel lines and new batteries as you suggested. Thanks again and will keep the post updated to let you know how I made out.
