fuel sender broken

So, troubleshooting fuel gauge found it was likely the sender based on only 8V at gauge when I knew it was at least half full. Went to tug off boot expecting to find a nut connecting the pink wire to the tank but ended up pulling up the whole sender which cracked :( I cut the wires so I wouldn’t create a spark hazard but now the cracked sender has fallen in. On the aquasport 215 the access isn’t directly under the inspection cover in the deck though. Has anyone removed or replaced a sender in there? Will I have sufficient access to pull it out or do we have to cut the deck?

I have to work on the sender and have the same issue in my 215 Explorer. I bought two 13"x17" flush hatches from DPI and am about to replace the 8" ports with them to gain more access.

Interesting, how did this work out for you? I am curious if you were able to get the sender out through the 8" port, and if not what you used to cut the fiberglass and any issues may have run into. It does seem like a larger port would just be easier.

No way to access it through the 8" hole, I used a Milwaukee 12V mini circular saw for the holes' straight cuts and a small jigsaw for the radiused corners. Sealed each hatch mounting edge, drilled the screw holes and that was it. They fit great and have opened up acres of access below.
