Alright gang, thanks for having me. Been doing a ton of reading on this sight and learned a lot. Can anyone tell me if an 1986 222 is a semi v or deeper deadrise? Thanks for input. I’ve located a 1971 flatback that the seller says has had some restoration done. No pics of the work done. It has an composite Armstrong style bracket. I also found the 1986 for roughly the same money. Need advice! Originally looked at the dorado but to pricey for me upfront and want to build over time. Thanks for any input.

My understanding is there was the osprey and the ccp with the osprey having the 12 degree dead rise and thus the model many other builders have pulled from. Is this correct?

Welcome!  You're correct. The early models, roughly 67-72 were the flatbacks with about a 2⁰ deadrise. Then came the Osprey with a 12⁰ and the CCP with 19⁰ (I believe). If you compare the back end of an osprey and a Dorado you will see some resemblance.

The common mistake or mis-understanding is the "222". Aquasport made the original 22-2 with the flatback. After that almost every model has a 222 in it. In '72 the 12 degree hull came out and then the "Deep Vee" came out right after that.  Here is a link to a '78 catalog that shows the progression.
