1996 Explorer 225 Thru-hull fitting size.
« on: March 13, 2021, 05:18:15 PM »
Hi all. While getting my boat ready for the season I noticed that the thru-hull fitting that feeds my baitwell and washdown is missing a chunk out of the lip where it meets the outside hull. I want to replace this as I am afraid it may start to leak or worse at some point. Does anyone know the size of this fitting or a generic part number? Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Pat

A picture would help us. The pickup for your live well should be on the bottom of your hull. Anything on the side is usually a discharge. Look for this on the bottom of hull.

Hi RikK. For some reason, I can't upload the pictures. It keeps saying that the file is too large, and I can't edit it smaller. To confirm, the pickup is for the  raw water washdown and livewell. It has a notch cutout, but it faces directly to the front of the boat and almost appears like it should be there. To confirm, there is still a full seal against the bottom of the hull. Thanks for your feedback.

If you want to post a pic when you talk about your boat, which you should, follow the instructions here http://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=12725.0  - don't attach them - you are limited by file size. Uploading them into your "member gallery" is better for viewing.
Spend a few minutes to absorb the instructions. It's really easy. Remember if using a phone to take pics, to hold the phone horizontal with the lens to the left.

This is what I used on my 210, the predecessor to your hull.

I also used the seacock pictured in the lower left of the page. Has worked well for 11 years.

Thanks again RickK. I think I have it now. Seeing th pictures now, does it look like the thruhull fitting is bad? The low side of the lip faces directly forward. Looks almost like it should grab water.

To me it looks like there is bottom paint on the fitting and it may be cracking. I'd chip that away and get a clean look at it.
