I must up date my project rebuild. I have visited boat yard where new floor is being installed. he has showed me a material which may have been called"cosa".but a different mfg. its reinforced w/glass fibers(visible). light as grafite but strong&and waterprooff than plywood. when old floor was removed it rotted so bad it seemed like mulch. this new floor will be glassed over and put down. the boat will receive new tempress hatches on console sides to replace the original amber plx glass access doors(14"x14" which were framed w/teak. this install will be more watertight& cheap. placed new wire in old floor tunnel from stern to console area w/exta wire for any later need. I am learning fast from this pics on this web. rebuilds are sure cheaper+fun to do than new boat. thanks Classic Aquasport!!!

Never thought about it on inboards, so the fuel tank sits on the deck across transom. The rudder must be just forward of it. Do they use a panel to cover tank?

hello, the fuel tank is in the transome acrossed the stern.origial was on 2 teak supports raising tank 2-3" above floor.mine will be the same only a different material. now over the tank is teak seat runs across stern entire width.below was a glassed over panel to above tank supports. we are putting glassed coosa in place I think. the original panel was falling apart but retained for shapping a new one.covering floor to panel is teak strip.I have coated all teak w/a finish.not wanting to have to use oil condition finish. this is a fishing boat project @ minumum expence. all new hardware(st.st). thanks for response.ask all u need. dakota

Hello again! Help! Help! I have a real problem!I found out today that my boat 222 inboard model is now makin me sick!! I am still waiting for floor completion(3-4) weeks to go.now my gas tank is newish so not replaced.cleaned of fuel& ready to put back.well now boat yard tech says there is NO gas gauge&no sending unit!!DOES ANYONE know what I can do?? Having a new floor put down is 5 times what I paid for hull. tech says a 2"hole must be cut, alum.weld donegas gauge put in console.I thought it was there only not working cause no batter was in boat when inspected& paid for. tech says Iwill have to use a stick to measure gas level.this would leave a stain and only a guesstimate!! this cave man stuff! now I know the sale was "as is condition" which was diffinite ok with me. only being a outboard owner all my life this problem never entered my mind.!! advice PLEASE!! dakota

Putting sending unit in isn’t big deal, hole saw correct size, measure depth of tank for correct sender, drop it in mark and drill holes tap for threads and screw it down. Is there tank grounding wires to fuel neck now from tank? How easy is it to see sending unit? If so could just use a sender with gauge on it.

hi, real thanks to you
my tank has ground to filling neck.wire coil hose(1.5") 6+" hose up to chromed cap. this is a center filling on stern. vent hose on tank. now I have a +-3"hole in teak to one side thru stern top.I just don't know how to post pics.that would really work better! this must be from 1974 or maybe this boat had 2 tank replacements. I live in N.J. you can see this boat online@"Macarthy's Marine"in Brielle,N.J. look for "used boats".@39,000.00 its a bargin!! everything is brand new!!! his is a redone 1975 inboard w/fruel-inject. engine!! wish I could of bought it last yr. cause it was much cheaper. I now have 17k in mine.but only 120hr. on this boats engine(Sea Max-5.8lt.-351cu.Ford) is carburator. not bad as$$ puttin floor+ 200 hp. outboard. floor is unbeliveable&half the wgt.of old one.I will do as you say and try this.any idea where to get a float, gauge, sending unit????
