Cabin Acrylic hatch and capt chair pads
« on: October 27, 2020, 05:48:55 PM »
Good evening everyone, I am trying to figure out where to start looking for a replacement to my cabin's entry top hatch.  Not the folding doors into the space but the hinged top hatch that is curved. I've thought about just getting some starboard or PVC board and making a flat top with a hinged front flap to come down and meet the doors, so I can lock it. However, I'd much rather have a smoked acrylic like the original design.
Also, before I pay someone to custom make the snap on pads for the 2 captain chairs, I thought I'd check in with you guys to see if anyone knows of already made, orderable replacements. Sorry for the rotated pic.  I took the photo before reading the tutorial.

I think you’re looking at custom.  Just about any shop that works acrylic should be able to make one, since you have the original to copy.  Boat Outfitters near Orlando can do it.  They’re not cheap, but top quality.

I'm pretty sure these are the ones I purchased for my seats. You will need to reposition the snaps IIRC.

Thats what I figured.  Unfortunately, finding a shop that works acrylic has proven difficult here in Southern PR. I know they have to be around but its like you gotta know someone who knows someone to find em.  I'll look into the boat outfitters, I fear shipping costs may make it not worth it.

Could always make it out of fiberglass, you have a mold there. Just a thought.
