Contact with Aquasport...
« on: December 08, 2006, 04:12:18 PM »
After reading RickK's post about getting the original build information for his newest addition from Aquasport, I figured maybe they could tell me something about my old 240.  I called down and spoke with Robert Stewart in Customer Service.  He told me that at the time of the sale of Aquasport's assets to Genmar all of the old records were dumpster'd.  Anything pre-Genmar is a black hole to Genmar.   Therefore my '74 boat is a complete unknown to them.

We had a nice chat about the older boats and talked some about the site.  He visits classicaquasport.com and refers Aquasport owners to the site for info on their older boats.  In a fit of momentary Xmas generosity I offered to send him scans of the old literature I've accumulated over the last couple of years.  He accepted the offer.  I received this note from him this morning:

  Wow
I really appreciate the CD I will be pulling the info off to file in our systems so we all have good visibility on it for supplying it to the many people that contact us. I I will also continue to let people know about www.classicaquasport.com as well.

Did he then serenade you with an a capella version of "Tonight's the Night"?

Oh sorry, that's Rod, not Rob.

They're good people there.  The employees there are helpless to our inquiries (until now) - that was a nice jesture Jim and I'm sure many inquiring AS owners will appreciate it.  YOU ARE "DA MAN".
Too bad the "company" dumpstered the "evidence" - many companies do that for liability sake - again, too bad.

Very cool Jim.  Nice of them to even accept AQ phone calls since they aren't even in production.
