2003 205 Osprey
« on: June 30, 2020, 02:26:58 PM »
I am new to the forum and glad to be on board. I just purchased a 2003 205 Osprey and have many questions about this boat. First , when I was cleaning it up for its time I noticed that the cockpit drains where not draining along with the fish boxes. I thought they where full of debris, but after looking at the thru hulls they had been plugged off with what looks like a rubber plug. Why would you do this ? Thanks sail2motor

Maybe it is a check valve, allowing water to go through only one way?

If it's truly a plug, sometimes you would plug the one box so that the other can get pumped out by the livewell switch.  Mine has the one box and the livewell tee-ed off together and getting drained by the macerator.  the other does not.  Also, I've known some who plug the thru-holes to keep from having stuff get into them during the winter, but they remove them in the spring.

Good morning All,
After looking at my drainage problems with my cockpit and fish boxes, I was hoping I could find a 205 to look at to see how the drains really work. I am on the west coast go Florida in the Tampa Bay Area.
Well back to work on checking out the Electrical end of this boat. Have a safe and happy 4th . Thanks Sail2power

Here's something that might give you an idea as to how it works. Sorry no pics but somewhat descriptive.

Morning All,
A update to the cockpit drains. Pulled the thru hulls and found a rubber plug had been driven up inside the thru hulls. Thinking about replacing them with a Thru Hull scupper With a flapper that Attwood marine makes. The only problem I see, is that they are to be installed 12” above the water line. Any one tried these
 Thanks
