Gunwale Caps
« on: May 22, 2020, 09:56:39 AM »
Doing a complete rewire of my 22 FF.  Looking for a place to run the courtesy lights. Want to put them up under the gunwales.  What is under these gunwale caps (see pic)?  Looks like they are fastened with multiple screws.  Any empty space under there or just foam?  They are not bonded down or something?   Thanks.

Mine use plywood as a sandwich filler. I screwed a string of LEDs underneath into the wood on each side.

Was there a space to run the wires from the console area through to the rod holder area?  I too might put the lights on the back of the wood trim or under that gunwale cap pointing down.

You have a liner in your boat, maybe rod holders recessed into the liner in the aft?  In the cabin you should be able to run wires down the sides of the boats., maybe use a fishtape.
