245 explorer rot behind bait tank

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself first. My name is John and I just acquired a 99 245 explorer. I from southern California and usually fish out of long Beach and Catalina. Everything on it is fine except for one thing behind the bait tank when I look thru the latch. If someone can take a picture of where their battery go would be nice also. So from what I'm seeing, it looks like the previous owner put a plywood from Port to Starboard in the stern below deck behind the bait tank and mounted the 2 battery there. Right now the ply is rotting away and ply is about to snap in half. I would appreciate if someone can provide me feedback to where original battery was or if they can take a picture when they get a chance so I can have an idea how to repair it. Thanks in advance and please excuse my boat terminology if used wrong. I'm here to learn from the community.

My old Explorer (and Capt Bob's) is pre Euro Transom, so ours are placed differently. Sorry.  We have plenty of members with a 245 EX so they'll pop in soon.

Thanks for the reply so far. I'll wait to see if anyone have a solution. I found some post that people use Starboard or some would fiberglass a Mari ne ply and screw it in
