New Owner of a 222 and in Need of Some Real Time Help
« on: September 01, 2019, 12:18:19 PM »
Ive been lurking around here for a while and finally pulled the trigger on a 222. It was an ebay listing that I put a bid on and unexpectedly won.  I never imagined buying a boat sight unseen but maybe I’ll get lucky and it will be as advertised.  The trailer is obviously trashed, but I picked up a good used one that I think will work, but I’m worried about the bunk placement.  Here’s the link to the boat....

Im planning on picking it up next weekend and will post some pics when I get it home.  I would like to go ahead and set up my trailer bunks.  Can anyone tell me how far apart the bunks should be placed? Thanks in advance for any help. —Kevin

Looks like it could be a good find. At that price point i don't think you could go wrong if stuff works as intended even for just a few years. They are hard to find these days in decent condition. I just picked up an 81' and it looks very similar to what you have here. Welcome to the site. I have been a lurker myself and just started posting recently with my recent purchase.

The boat i picked up came with the original trailer so i can only assume it worked well for the previous owner but i measured the bunks to be 43'' on center spacing. They spaced just outside the scuppers at the back of the transom if that makes any sense. I am curious myself on this topic to see also how far up typical bunks would run. I am running the same setup with 5 rollers down the center (all needing to be replaced) and a single bunk on either side. I plan to on replacing the rollers and bunks and don't intent to change the layout. I will let you know how it works out.

Best bet is to measure the distance between your stringers and assure that the bunks are under them.  It’s also important to make sure that the bunks fully support the boat all the way to the transom.  The good news is that with the fiberglass stringers on most Aquasport, you have some flexibility in stringer placement.
