She's rough
« on: August 18, 2019, 07:59:31 AM »
Finally got around to pulling the 191 out from the trap pile, Man she's in rough shape. It's been upside down for 10+ yrs so maybe the stringers aren't  soaked, lol.  Been thinking about restoring this for quite awhile now but now seeing it, I'm not too sure.

Nothing I see that a pressure washer won't make look better. A 191 is a worthy boat to rebuild.

Already having the 170, I'm not sure how much " bigger" this would feel. I fish my 170 almost daily, and as nice as it is, It's small. Certainly not a boat I would send down to Fla. I think the days to Egmont or the Skyway would be few and far between. Is the 191 that much more boat? It does looks like I could put the 170 inside of it, but the ride wouldn't be that much different. Might wait for the 22-2.

The 19-1 is the perfect sized boat - still small enough to handle by yourself yet big enough to take a few of the family or friends out and not be in each others way.
My 170 is good for 2 people max before we're getting in each others way.

Ah man I respectfully disagree...I've motored around skyway and Egmont w/my 170 too many times to remember, even in not so welcomed seas.  That hull is so well balanced.  And Rickk is spot-on...that 3rd person aboard makes moving around a pain...even more so if that 2nd and/or 3rd aren't skilled fishermen.

We rolled her over last night. Unfortunately (since it'll all be removed) the liner and casting deck look amazing! Except for the Porcipine that made its home under the deck. The cap is beat to hell but that's no big deal.
The more I look at it, the more I think it needs to be rebuilt. I guess it's time to put a building up in the yard for winter work.

As far as the 170, yes it's too small. Usually have my kids onboard, although an aircraft carrier wouldn't be big enough, it's tough to fish with 3 certainly 4.

Ha - good points.
I'm with boatnamesue on this one. I have a 170 which I've taken to Egmount/Skyway too many times to count.  I've made 50+ mile trips from St Pete -> Ruskin -> SRQ on tournament days. The 191 would be ideal for me; keeping an eye out now. Can't wait to see how this one shapes up.
